TWO men were charged Monday, February 26, for illegal transportation of sand in Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga town, Cebu.
The team led by Senior Police Officer 4 Darlene Banogon caught Dranreb Sumile Mates, 40, and Deogracias Eborda Villarta, 49.
Mates and Villarta were driving their respective trucks when they were apprehended by the police around 6 p.m. last Saturday.
The suspects, who are both residents of Carcar City, failed to present permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Banogon and her team set up a checkpoint after they were informed that the trucks carried sand, possibly illegal extracted from a river.
The trucks were taken into custody of Sibonga Police Station, while the drivers were charged for violating Provincial Ordinance No. 2008-10. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
