2 men shot, lose P100,000 to robbers

TWO men were robbed and shot by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle at Rizal Street, Barangay Zone 9 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, October 28.

Senior Inspector Mark Angelo Junco, deputy chief of Talisay City Police Station, identified the victims as Manuel de Leon, 48, and Braulio Baal, 57, owner of a money changer business, and both residents of Talisay City.

Initial investigation showed that De Leon was asked by somebody to convert a cheque into a cash amounting to P100,000. After the transaction, De Leon prepared to leave, but one of the men declared hold-up at about 9 a.m. and carted away the cash.

There was a commotion as both victims were shot by the robber who escaped with his companion, Junco said.

De Leon and Baal sustained gunshot wounds in their abdomen. De Leon is in critical condition while Baal is already stable.

Police recovered at the crime scene four bullet shells of .45 caliber.

Investigation is ongoing.
