2 militiamen, 3 others missing in Basilan

GOVERNMENT forces were deployed to track down the whereabouts of five people, including two militiamen, who went missing since Thursday, July 20, in Basilan province, the military reported.

The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) identified them as Civilian Active Auxiliary (CAA) Roberto Lacastesantos and Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO) Renato Casiple of Switch Yakal Patrol Base of the Army’s 4th Special Force Battalion.

The other three were identified as Rene Sanson, Hernando Sally, and Mertong Falcasantos all residents of Sitio Campo Barn in the village of Switch Yakal, Lantawan, Basilan province.

The Wesmincom said they were last seen in the vicinity of Rancho Eguana at Sitio Campo Barn in the village of Switch Yakal, Lantawan.

The Joint Task Force Basilan have immediately deployed forces to find the missing persons.

The military have not released further details why they have gone missing.

“The information we obtained is still very sketchy. We have already deployed soldiers and CAAs (Civilian Active Auxiliaries or militiamen) in the area where the missing persons were last seen,” Colonel Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Basilan commander said.

“We will give you updates the soonest we get some development,” Uy added. (SunStar Philippines)
