2 NegOcc Negosyo Centers among top PH’s performing

OF THE 14 Negosyo Centers in Negros Occidental, two were among the country’s top performing facilities, particularly in the number of clients assisted and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) served.

Recent report of the Negosyo Center Monitoring System (NCMS) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) showed that Negosyo Centers in cities of Bacolod and Kabankalan ranked number 12 and 16, respectively, in terms of number of clients assisted.

As of July 31 this year, Negosyo Center in Bacolod City has catered to 5,552 clients, the NCMS said.

The Negosyo Center in Kabankalan City, meanwhile, assisted 3,775 clients in the first seven months of the year.

For the number of MSMEs served, Negosyo Center in Bacolod placed 13th while the one in Kabankalan was in the 17th spot. They catered to 5,707 and 2,595 enterprises, respectively, it added.

Rachel Nufable, chief trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, yesterday said the higher number of clients served by the Negosyo Center in Bacolod is mainly attributed to the business name registration service it provides.

She said that from the previous twice a month entrepreneurship and business planning trainings, the center is now providing weekly activities thus, more number of MSMEs availed of the programs.

“Negosyo Centers, particularly the services they provide, remain to be an effective platform to boost local enterprises as well as a tool to efficiently deliver the services of the DTI,” Nufable added.

The other top performing facility is catering to clients not only in Kabankalan but also to nearby cities and municipalities with no Negosyo Centers yet especially in terms of business name registration.

Nufable said that aside from meeting its target, the facility in southern Negros was able to also incorporate the programs of the host-local government thus, positive number of entrepreneurs was served.

“The recognition manifests that the two Negosyo Centers in the province are performing effectively and efficiently as mandated by the Go Negosyo Act,” Nufable said, adding that “may this encourage other centers to further boost their operations.”

She also urged other Negosyo Centers in the province to report their accomplishments regularly, with the assurance that DTI-Negros Occidental along with other partners will continue to be a “backroom support" to their respective business counselors and personnel. (EPN)
