2 shot dead in Negros Occidental

A MALE teenager and a businesswoman were shot to death in separate incidents in Negros Occidental.

In Silay City, a Grade 7 student died after he was shot by two unidentified men at Sitio Lantawan, Barangay Guimbalaon around 7 a.m. on Thursday, January 4.

Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of Silay City Police Station, identified the fatality as Christian Pinson, 17, of Barangay Katilingban, Talisay City.

Pinson and his two younger siblings were on their way to school when the assailants blocked their way and asked them about the identities of two individuals.

When Pinson’s younger sister replied, one of them shot the victim hitting him in his stomach while the other gunman fired at him on the head.

Pinson died on the spot while the suspects escaped on foot. His siblings were unharmed.

Polines said the gunmen monitored the activities of Pinson, adding that even some teachers noticed two unfamiliar faces waiting outside of the school when classes resumed last January 3. Pinson failed to attend the classes on that day.

He added that they have yet to establish the motive and identities of the perpetrators.

In San Carlos City, two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired at Aileen Tanjay, 50, of Barangay 1 on her way home at 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Investigation showed that the businesswoman was riding a tricycle when one of the assailants shot her.

The gunman escaped with his companion.

Tanjay sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was brought to a hospital, where she died after two hours.

Police recovered from the scene five fired bullets and a deformed slug of .45 caliber pistol.
