A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy drowned in a fishpond in Poblacion village, Boljoon, Wednesday morning, March 29.
Police identified the casualty as Jonnefer Dulie Soran Jr., who was declared dead at the Rural Health Unit.
Investigation showed the boy's mother Princess Mae Grace, a house help, was asked by her employer to buy a newspaper.
She left Jonnefer in the care of her neighbor, who failed to notice the boy when she started cooking rice for lunch.
The boy possibly went out through the kitchen door.
The mother later returned looking for her son, whom she found floating on the fishpond.
The pond, owned by Jimmy Taga-oc, has no fence. Taga-oc promised to shoulder the burial.
