20 exhibitors join expo, trade fair

A TOTAL of 20 exhibitors joined the Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2014 at Abreeza Mall.

The program is being supported by the Office of the President through Memorandum Circular 62, directing "all government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or controlled corporations, and encouraging local government units to extend support and participation" to the said activity.

Daniel C. Guillen, Kabisig chair, said the purpose of the expo is to raise the public's awareness about the different government agencies and to showcase all of their achievements and programs.

"We love to let the public know that the government is still intact," Guillen said.

He added that out of the 300 government agencies, "there are so many government agencies that the Filipinos do not know".

The opening program of the activity last Monday was participated by Assistant Secretary Catheryne Jones Dalen, who represented Secretary Sonny Coloma. The Kabisig Trade Fair will run until Thursday (September 4).

The Kabisig People's Movement was created through a Presidential Proclamation 650 in 1990 during the term of the late President Cory Aquino "in order to facilitate, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of government programs and projects, as well as to provide linkages between and among the private sector groups and government agencies and instrumentalities."

The first Kabisig Expo and Trade Fair at the Abreeza Mall, according to Guillen, was held at SM Fairview, followed by the activity at the Abreeza Mall.

Guillen also said that they target six expo and trade fair activities for the whole year.

He also said that exhibitors are donating a certain amount that will be given to their beneficiaries in form of supporting schools and conducting medical missions to the elderly.
