200 couples to avail of Pagibig-sponsored mass wedding on Feb. 14

TWO hundred pairs from the southern town of Miagao, Iloilo will join the free mass wedding organized by the Home Mutual Development Fund (HMDF) or Pag-ibig Fund on February 14.

The civil wedding ceremony dubbed as “I Do, I Do Araw ng Pag-ibig” will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miagao Cultural Hall, according Pag-ibig Member Service Officer III Mark Ken Carmelita.

The ceremony will be held simultaneous with other key cities and municipalities in the country identified by Pagibig.

The annual mass wedding is part of the corporate social responsibility of Pagibig. Carmelita said it is also giving meaning to HMDF’s corporate name, which is Pagibig.

During the wedding, couples are encouraged to enroll with the Pagibig Fund “for future needs and their children’s security,” he said.

Lucky couples will have a chance to win raffle prizes that were prepared by HMDF. These include, among others, home appliances and kitchen wares. He added they are still waiting for a communication from their head office whether or not a house and lot will be raffled off.

This year’s activity has chosen Miagao as the venue, as the local government unit as early as last year has signified its willingness to partner with Pagibig for the project.

Last year, the event was held at the Isla de Gigantes in Carles town. (PNA)
