2,000 jobs up in Davao Job Fair

MORE than 2,000 local and overseas job opportunities are up for grabs during a one-day Job Fair on March 24 to 25, at Baliok Elementary School Covered Court, Barangay Baliok, Talomo District in Davao City.

The event, a project of Representatives Jericho and Karlo Alexie Nograles in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment in Davao Region (Dole)-Davao, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and PBA Partylist, is dubbed as "Job Fair Trabaho para sa tanan!"

Nograles said Thursday, March 23, during Kapihan sa Apo View that 60 companies confirmed to participate in the job fair.

He assured the employers or recruitment agencies underwent a thorough accreditation by Dole and have complied with the General Labor Standards.

Most of the available vacancies are from the business process outsourcing sector while others include those for skilled workers such as heavy machine operators for abroad.

The Job Fair is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates and employees.

The applicants should bring resume and prepare other documents needed to present to their potential employers.

Dole said the activity is one of their employment facilitation strategies aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers or overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants.

Aside from the employment services, there will also be a medical mission for the residents and job aspirants as several medical doctors and dentist are ready to give free medical services for all barangays in Davao City. (KVC)
