27 cops of PRO-Negros Island Region commended

TWENTY-SEVEN police officers of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Negros Island Region (NIR) were given recognition in rites held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City Wednesday, September 20.

Awarded the Philippine National Police (PNP) Efficiency Medal (Medalya ng Kasanayan) were Chief Superintendent Leonardo Cesneros, deputy regional director for administration of PRO-NIR; Senior Superintendents Roy Abella and Melchor Coronel; Superintendents Robert Petate and Ronald Floria; Chief Inspector Mary Rose Salve Pico and six others for their eminently meritorious and invaluable service rendered to PRO-NIR as members of the regional office's police commissioned officer promotion committee and secretariat which contributed to the successful conduct of the first semester of the regular promotion program this year.

Also awarded with the same commendation were Senior Superintendents Rolando Miranda, Dennis Dumanew, Thomas Joseph Martir, Ronald Floria, and Lea Rose Peña, Chief Inspector Donna Marie Rances, Senior Police Officer 4 Celestino Donasco, and nine others as members of the regional office’s police non-commissioned officers' promotion board and secretariat of the same semester.

Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, acting director of PRO-NIR, led the donning of ranks on 454 policemen, and three members of the PNP-Special Action Force (SAF).

The 10 commissioned officers promoted were Senior Inspectors Lawrence Gerald Bathan, Robert Dejucos, Rogelio Pacificar Jr., Ronel Fungo, and Albert Sy; Inspectors Remon Jake Aguho, Joey Mara, Rhojn Nigos, Marc Reclamado, and Charlie Sebastian; and SPO4 Mynard Carbona and Eugenio Rodas.

Of the 444 non-commissioned officers, 62 were promoted from Police Officer 1 (PO1) to PO2; PO2 to PO3, 45; PO3 to Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1), 66; SPO1 to SPO2, 108; SPO2 to SPO3, 138; SPO3 to SPO4, 23; and SPO4 to Inspector, 2.

Gonzales, in his speech, encouraged the newly-promoted policemen to be more responsible as they reach higher ranks.

“Continue to look forward for more promotions until you reach the rank that you want,” he told them.
