3 Cafgus found positive for drugs in Negros Occidental

THREE members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental were found positive for use of illegal drugs.

Of the 29 Cafgu members, Civilian Active Auxiliaries Ramark Librado, Rogelio Ruales Jr., and Apolinario Talaban yielded positive in a drug test held at Delta Company 12 Infantry Brigade, Cafgu, 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army at Barangay Montilla Thursday, April 6, around 11:30 a.m.

Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station Chief Alan Reloj said Cafgu members submitted their urine samples to undergo the test initiated by the municipal government to identify drug users.

The test was conducted after he received reports on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area.

Reloj said the three Cafgu members will be subjected to a confirmatory test.

The three, who will be facing administrative charges, were placed under police custody for further investigation.

Last week, municipal government employees and officials as well as policemen underwent the same test and all were negative.

In October 2016, a town councilor and his son, and a municipal government employee were also found positive for drug use.

Moreover, a personnel of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) was relieved from the Regional Headquarters Service Group after he was tested positive for drug use. His identity was withheld in the meantime.

PRO-NIR public information officer Armilyn Vargas said on Thursday that the police with a rank of Police Officer 2 was supposed to be disarmed but he failed to report to his new assignment on Thursday.
