3 dead, 3 missing in rampaging flood

THREE people were killed, while three others were missing and feared dead, when the dump truck they were riding was swept by rampaging flood in Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Tuesday on October 3.

Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca, Zamboanga del Norte police director, in his report to the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, identified the fatalities as Lilia Eleobido, Ihid Pico, and Joana Tuse.

The remains of the three were retrieved by responding policemen one after the other hours after the incident.

Missing and feared dead were Federico Calunsag, Jun Obordo, and Ruth Pactorayan

Tacaca said investigation showed the victims were crossing the Dapitan River aboard a dump truck when swept by rampaging flood around 3:50 p.m., Monday, October 2, in the village of Singaran, La Libertad town.

He said that the search continue to located the three missing victims.

The rampaging flood was caused by sudden swell of the river brought about by inclement weather condition. (SunStar Philippines)
