3 face theft, drug charges

THREE men were charged for theft and possession of illegal drugs before the Davao City Prosecutor's Office Tuesday after they were apprehended for stealing a goat at Sitio Luman, New Valencia village, Tugbok district Davao City, last December 29, 2016.

Charged were Dennis Amora Diaz, 26, farmer, Daryl Amora Diaz, 19 driver and Romnick Geronda Mamites, 18, laborer, all residents of and resident of Crossing S, Marilog District, Davao City.

According to Merlyn Tecson Omaña, around 5:30 a.m. of December 29, she heard her goat bleat, hence made a check.

When she went outside, she saw two male persons took one of her female goats and rushed near their companion aboard a white motorcycle and fled.

She even shouted "bring my goat back" in the vernacular but to no avail.

She reported the incident to the police officers at around 7 a.m. who conducted a follow-up investigation. She and the police officers tried to look at the Mintal Public Market Davao if someone bought her goat.

When they reached the wet market, Omaña saw the three suspects with her goat in their possession.

She immediately informed the police and the same arrested the three men.

Recovered from their possession were one goat, one homemade .38 revolver without serial number, three live ammunitions, one pack and two rolled sachets of suspected marijuana wrapped in paper and one Suzuki smash 115 motorcycle.

Among the three, Dennis Diaz alone was charged with Republic Act (RA) 10961 or illegal possession of firearms.

The three were also charged with Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The case is being resolved by Prosecutor Rizalyn Gonzales. (KVC)
