3 kids abducted, rescued in Zambo Norte

AUTHORITIES arrested a man who allegedly abducted three children in a remote town of Zamboanga del Norte.

Two boys and a girl, aged eight to 10 years old, were rescued about 45 minutes after they were taken Thursday, May 18, said Senior Superintendent Edwin Buenaventura Wagan.

The suspect, identified as Gapur Alid, 29, was arrested in a dragnet operation around 2 p.m. Thursday in the village of Andres Micubo in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were: fragmentation grenade; three identification cards of the Moro National Liberation Front-Nascom bearing the name of Alid; Commission on Elections ID; political campaign volunteer ID; P1,000 bill; jacket; and motorcycle without a license plate.

Alid, a resident of Pulang Lupa, Sirawai town, allegedly seized the children around 1:15 p.m. in Sitio Matunoy in Andres Micubo.

Wagan said they conducted the dragnet operation after the father of the two boys reported the abduction. The girl is a cousin of the two boys. (SunStar Philippines)
