3 lanes of Cebu South Coastal Road impassable

THREE lanes of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) Viaduct Section were not passable for all types of vehicles since 1 a.m. today, February 28, after a cargo trailer truck carrying cement overturned.

Cebu City Transportation Office Operations (CCTO) Chief Francisco Ouano said the driver was over-speeding on his way to Cebu City center from a mall along the South Road Properties based on the speed marks on the road.

Because of the incident, heavy traffic situation was felt along CSCR since 6 a.m. Wednesday.

It was only around 8 a.m. when motorists were able to access the two lanes of the north-bound section of CSCR and a lane of the south-bound after CCTO and other responders partly cleared the road.

Ouano said the truck will be impounded for 30 days due to the negligence of the driver.

“We will impound the truck for 30 days because of the inconvenience that it caused to the riding public. This is a clear violation of reckless driving,” Ouano told SunStar Cebu. (RVC/SunStar Cebu)
