3 nabbed in Cebu; P208,000 worth of shabu seized

THREE drug suspects were arrested in separate drug busts in Cebu in the past two days.

Police seized from the suspects a total of P208,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, incumbent Catmondaan barangay councilor Irvin Ares Doños was arrested in Catmon, Cebu.

Doños yielded 17 small sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

Provincial Intelligence Branch Chief Joie Yape Jr. said Doños surrendered to the authorities on December 2016 but went back to business.

Yape added that Doños was under surveillance for two months after receiving news that the latter stopped doing business.

Five hours later, Cirilo Gervano was captured in Barangay Madridejos, Alegria.

Gervano yielded one small pack and one medium pack of shabu.

Gervano is a habal-habal driver and sells drugs in Badian.

In Sitio Suba, Barangay Bahay, Sibonga, Mark Anthony Olivar Cayubit was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20.

Cayubit is the brother of former Police Officer 2 Niel Cayubit, who was arrested in a series of raids along with Senior Police Officer 1 Ethel Teves and her common-law partner retired Senior Police Officer 1 Marflo Suico, and Suico's brother Heracleo last May.

Chief Inspector Rolan Aliser, the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit chief, said Mark Anthony replaced his brother in the drug business after the latter was arrested.

Mark Anthony yielded four sachets of shabu.

Aliser said that Doños, Gervano and Cayubit are considered high-value targets. (With KAL/SunStar Philippines)
