CHARGES have been filed before the City Prosecutors Office against three suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) who were tagged in the killing of a barangay chief in Davao City.
The suspects, identified as Roberto Castillote, Garry Cloma and a John Doe, all members of the Guerilla Front 54 of the NPA, were charged on Monday with murder thru a regular filing procedure.
Barangay Cadalian chief Alex Iyog Angco, 56, was gunned down by three unidentified armed men at Purok 6 in Barangay Cadalian around 6:15 a.m. last September 29.
A source from the Davao City Police Office's Investigation and Detection Management Branch (DCPO-IDMB), who refused to be named for lack of authority to speak, said the initial findings of its investigation pointed to the rebels as responsible in killing of the victim.
Records from Baguio police showed the three suspects were armed with AK-47 rifles and wore long black jackets.
The victim was at his breeding farm when the three men shot him several times.
The victim succumbed to several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. His body was brought to St. Funeral Homes in Baguio District.
Before the suspects sped off, a witness identified one of the armed men as Castillote.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered eight fired cartridges of AK-47 rifle at the crime scene.
