A THREE-YEAR-OLD son of a teacher drowned in the swimming pool past 9 a.m. Monday, April 9, in Circa La Playa Resort, Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla town, Cebu.
Police identified the fatality as Leebrent Cabardo Cañoneo, a resident of Alaska, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
Initial investigation showed the boy was with her mother Ramilyn, who joined her fellow teachers in the end-of-the-school year outing in the private resort.
A witness saw the boy jump into the pool and the latter drowned.
Ramilyn, 35, failed to notice her son had went far from her.
The boy was rushed to Minglanilla District Hospital, but he did not make it alive.
Ramilyn and her fellow teachers reported the incident past 11 a.m. on the same day.
Chief Inspector Verniño Noserale, the town police commander, said they are still investigating the incident. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
