300 set for 2015 Gothong Golf tilt tourn

MORE than 300 golfers are expected to tee off in the 2015 Albino D. Gothong Memorial Golf Tournament at the Cebu Country Club (CCC) in Banilad, Cebu on Friday and Saturday.

The two-day tournament, which is also known as the “Amo Cup,” is an 18-hole strokeplay open to both members and non-members of the host club.

The event, now on its 8th edition, is a project of the Alpa Foundation Inc. and presented by AD Gothong Manufacturing and Security Bank.

Bambi Gothong-Tan, daughter of the late Albino Gothong, said that each participant will be getting a Timex watch as tournament giveaway aside from other goodies from the sponsors.

Tan said they have also prepared lots of raffle prizes for the players.

Trophies will be given for the overall lowest gross, and the top three base on net scores for classes A, B, and C for men, the ladies division, and the seniors’ division.

A brand new Mercedes Benz B180 is at stake to a player who will hit a hole-in-one. A Skygo motorcycle will also be at stake as eagle prize on the par-5 holes.

Registration is at P2,000 for the host club members and P3,000 for the non-members.

The awarding ceremony will be at the CCC ballroom at 7 p.m on Saturday.

Albino Gothong was a popular figure in the Cebu golf community having been responsible in organizing the grand tournaments starting in the mid-1990s.

He was also a well-known philanthropist, who supported various organizations and individuals. His work is now being continued by his family through the Alpa Foundation Inc. (with PR)
