3,000 now enrolled in Madrasah schools

A TOTAL of 3,452 students are now enrolled in Madrasah schools all over Davao City.

Head of Madrasah Jamal Munib said in Thursday's edition of I-Speak Media Forum at the City Hall conference room that these students have been attending classes in 48 Madrasah Centers in the city.

The schools aim to shape productive young Muslims.

Munib said Madrasah schools received P11-million assistance from the City Government.

"It is part of our vision to educate Muslims in strong faith, upang hindi maging masamang tao" Munib said.

He added that they also aim to eradicate the misconception that Madrasah is "a breeding ground for terrorists."

Munib cited that there are around two billion Muslims in the world and those who are known terrorists only compose 0.003 percent compared to the whole population.

He said it is sad to note that when a crime is committed, it can easily be blamed on Muslims.

He challenged that a criminal should not be associated with his or her religion.

"Hindi dapat i-affiliate sa religion," Munib said.
