305 completes PRO-COR bikathon against drugs

THIRTY-five finishers joined 270 other bikers after conquering the streets of La Trinidad in the second RD Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera: Padyak Tungo sa Pagbabago 2017.

305 bike enthusiasts, and police officers from Kalinga, Ifugao, Baguio City, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Benguet, Region I and 2 pedaled for a cause starting from the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station finished in Camp Bado, Dangwa during the weekend.

PRO-Cordillera regional director Elmo Francis Sarona addressed his gratitude and hopes to conduct the next Padyak tungo sa Pagbabago.

"Hopefully, there would be another third RD Padyak. All of you who supported the activity, maraming salamat on behalf of Police regional office-Cordillera," said Chief Superintendent Sarona. "Alam naman natin na while we enjoy and have fun, we were able to generate funds for a cause. Another community based rehabilitation center ang nabigyan natin ng assistance and I think this is very timely."

The regional director added in the whole of Cordillera, there are 21,000 drug surrenderers this year that includes already the arrested and those who voluntarily surrendered.

Out of the 23 organizations of police offices conducting drug rehablitation in the Cordillera, three beneficiary centers were awarded with P10,000 cash prize each.

Receiving the cash are from Conner Rehabilitation and Transformation Center in Apayao, Clean Life Community-Based Rehablitation Program for Drug Surrenderers in Mt. Province and Shalom Kalinga.

Special awards were given to oldest finisher Agustin Narvaes, 60-year-old, from Central Pico, La Trinidad and youngest finisher Jhon Michael Napiloy, 12 year-oldm, Km.6 Asin. The two are first time participants.

The top three finishers in the civilian category are Ariel Flora from La Union, Russel Bautista of Benguet, and Reynan Garringo from Kalinga while Hyasmin Zambrano of Baguio City championed in the female category.
