389 police recruits graduate public safety basic course

A TOTAL of 389 police recruits graduated from the six-month public safety basic course in Camp Jessie M. Robredo at Sitio Laray, Barangay Jugan, Consolacion, Cebu, on Thursday morning, August 10.

Police Regional Office-Cental Visayas Director Jose Mario Espino, who was invited to be a speaker, congratulated the top three police officers, saying most of them were female.

"This is the first time that I witness that most of the top are female. It is very encouraging that female police nowadays are really competing with men police," Espino said.

Espino added that they should not only excel in the academics, but also compete with the policemen, and that they should also be a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics and Internal Security Operations team.

Among the three top police officers were Lucille Waminal Alado, a single mother, and Grace Irene Diwan received a grade of 92.25 percent in the six-month training, which started in February this year.

The recruits will undergo field training program, which requires them to go out on the streets and conduct patrols. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
