398 cases pending at NLRC for December

THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC)-Davao still has a total of 398 pending labor cases to resolve this month.

Data obtained from the NLRC-Davao revealed that the Commission has only disposed 69 cases of the 467 total labor cases last month.

Out of the total number of cases disposed, 35 were settled, 24 has corresponding orders, and 10 were decided. Of these, 58 percent favored laborers and 42 percent favored the management.

NLRC-Davao information officer Gloria Baui said there are pending cases because some complainants or accused are not available on scheduled hearings, some have incomplete evidence, while others are a no-show.

Of the 467 labor cases last month, 92 are new cases while 373 are pending cases from the previous months.

Baui said most of the complaints came from various business establishments whose nature of business is into banana production, imports/exports. She added that last month, there were about 70 laborers involved in the case.

The NLRC also recorded 22 cases of labor complaints from overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), 270 from Single-Entry Approach and 171 registered unions.
