4 injured in Lapu-Lapu City fire; 101 houses destroyed

FOUR persons were injured in a fire that hit 101 houses in Matumbo, Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Sunday dawn, May 21.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Zener Cenu of Lapu-Lapu City Fire Department identified the injured as Francisca Nacional, Jamiaca Nacional, Francel Nacional, and Carlo Latoja.

Cenu said the fire started in the house of Francisca due to an unattended candle light.

Cenu said the fire department received the alarm at 2:46 a.m. and the fire was declared out at 7:30 a.m. The damage is pegged at P800,000.

The fire alarm was raised to Task Force Bravo, meaning all the fire trucks in Lapu-Lapu City, neighboring towns, and cities were asked to respond.

The victims are currently staying at Pusok Gymnasium. (SunStar Philippines)
