4 injured in Tabuelan, Cebu vehicular incident

FOUR persons, including a police officer, were injured in a vehicular incident in a checkpoint in Barangay Olivo, Tabuelan town, Cebu around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2.

Wounded in the incident were Police Officer 1 Rosaupan Balingcasag Jr., 30; Cesar Claro, Mark Cose Pautan, and Shannon June Dominic Arendain.

Balingcasag gained injuries in the legs and other parts of his body while Claro, Pautan and Arendalin suffered minor injuries.

The police officer was part of the team conducting checkpoint in Olivo. The team tried to stop the motorcycle driven by Claro, with Pautan and Arendain as his back riders.

Claro, instead of slowing down, sped up his motorcycle, hitting the checkpoint signage.

The motorcycle then hit Balingcasag.

Other officers rushed the four persons to Tuburan District Hospital.

Investigation showed they were drunk at the time of incident.

Claro, who was detained in Tabuelan Police Station, will face a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. (SunStar Cebu)
