43 cops replace Parian police station personnel

THE 43 personnel from Cebu City Mobile Force Company have started to report on Wednesday morning, March 21, to Parian police station.

Senior Inspector Porferio Gabuya, the station's officer-in-charge, reminded the police officers to stay honest and never ask for bribe at the expense of their career.

Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Director Robert Quenery ordered the relief of 39 Parian cops, including the station chief, after the arrest of Police Officer 3 Ritchie Saquilabon who allegedly asked for bribe from a drug suspect.

Senior Police Officer 2 Protacio Meredores, who was with Cebu City Mobile Force Company in the past five years, promised not engage in illegal activities.

Parian Barangay Captain Jeremias Nuñez said he will meet the 20 watchmen on Wednesday afternoon, March 21, after one of the watchmen was accused of in cahoots with Saquilabon.

He has doubted a watchman was involved in bribery attempt, but he did not divulge his name.

Nuñez said he has coordinated with the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) and gave the pictures of 20 watchmen.

Saquilabon's alleged victim had identified the watcman, but not totally sure.

Nuñez said he will dismiss the watcman if he is proven guilty.

A watcman in Parian receives a monthly allowance of P4,000 from Cebu City Government and P1,000 counterpart from Parian Barangay Council. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
