DEFENDING champion Ziggiotti opened its defense against seven other squads as Don Bosco Technical Institute (DBTI) Alumni Athletic Club reeled off Saturday at JGC gym at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.
DBTI-AAC vice president James Villanueva of Land Bank of the Philippines disclosed that other teams are two-time champion Monchiero of Batch 99, Bragion, Rinaldi, Rua, Braga, Bosco and Ricaldone.
Games are played every Saturday under the watch of commissioner Larry Leathers, a retired referee from the US now living at Airport Subdivision in Bacolod.
Tournament format calls for a single round robin elimination and the top six advancing to the quarterfinals. Number 1 and 2 take a bye and wait for the winners between ranked third and sixth teams. Number 4 and 5 dispute another semi-slot.
Knockout final game will be held at the Victorias City Coliseum, said Villanueva, whose other co-officers in the AAC include president Richard Lacson, secretary Mark Rio, treasurer Clive Lacson and Chairman JB Baylosis. (HGD)
