5 non-commissioned police officers relieved

FIVE non-commissioned police officers reportedly involved in illegal activities were relieved from Talisay City Police Station.

Superintendent Virgilio Bayon-on, the provincial police information officer, said the relieved officers, who hold ranks from Senior Police Officers 1 to 4, reported to Provincial Holding and Accounting Unit of Cebu Provincial Police Office on Monday morning, October 9.

Bayon-on said they received several reports about these officers’ extortion activities, but no one filed a formal complaint.

One of the officers allegedly asked for a bribe before releasing a motorcycle from custody.

Bayon-on said they are still looking for replacements from other police stations under CPPO.

Supt. Jason Villamater, Talisay City Police chief, said he has yet to receive the order from CPPO on the relief of his five personnel.

Villamater told Sunstar Cebu that so far, he only received an order for the relief of one officer.

While he said he has no choice but to follow orders, Villamater hopes the provincial command will augment his personnel.

Villamater said he has already submitted a request to CPPO, but he has yet receive feedback.
