FIVE of the country’s property giants were given special citations by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia for their confidence and continued faith in the direction set by the local government for the city’s growth.
Leonardia, in rites held at the Bacolod City Government Center during the commemoration of the 79th year of the signing of the city’s charter on June 18, recognized SM Prime Holdings Inc., Ayala Land Corp., Megaworld Corp., Double Dragon Properties’ City Mall, and Robinsons Land Corp.
SM was cited for exhibiting such faith through major investments like the SMX Convention Center, the first in the Visayas, as well as their substantial mall expansions projects in the city.
The citation for Ayala Land stated that the firm’s development projects worth at least P6 billion are seen to change the skyline of the city while providing thousands of jobs to the people.
Among these projects are the Ayala Capitol Civic Center, a four-storey Ayala Mall, an eight-storey office building, hotel, and the Amaia Steps Capitol Central condominium.
For Megaworld, it has allotted about P35 billion in real estate investments to build two townships.
The projects are expected to vastly change the city’s landscape and will also generate thousands of jobs before and after its completion, the citation said.
The mayor also recognized CityMall as a chain of community shopping malls, by opening City Mall Mandalagan which carries the distinction as the First Grand City Mall nationwide, while CityMall Goldenfield is set to begin operations next month.
Robinsons Land, meanwhile, was cited for its fourth real estate development project in the city, the 22-hectare Brighton Homes, a residential subdivision project. This is on top of other major investments such as Robinsons Place mall, Robinsons Cybergate, and Go Hotel. (EPN)
