50 cases filed vs CICLs in January

AROUND 50 cases were lodged against children in conflict with the law (CICL) just for the month of January this year, according to records shown by the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD).

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey said that physical injury topped the list of cases filed against the minors. The list includes 17 cases, mostly recorded in Tugbok Police Station.

Physical injury was followed by theft cases, which is composed of 10 complaints; four of these were recorded from the San Pedro Police Station, two cases from the Sta. Ana and Sasa Police Stations, and one case each from Toril and Tugbok police stations.

Robbery cases filed against CICL topped the records of the Talomo Police Station.

Five cases for violation the firecracker and three cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, two frustrated murder cases, murder, illegal possession of deadly weapon, and rape were also among the cases filed.

"Naningkamot kita sa WCPD-DCPO nga makunhuran pa kini nga mga kaso pinaagi sa atong mga programa sa kabataan (WCPD-DCPO is doing their best to minimize these cases through launching programs for the minors)," Dela Rey said.

However, these cases had declined to almost 50 percent when compared to the number of cases filed against CICLs in January 2016.
