50 resort staff investigated after P3.8-million robbery

ABOUT 50 employees, including construction workers and boat personnel of an island-resort in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, will undergo fingerprinting Tuesday, July 18, as part of the investigation of a robbery that victimized two clients.

On Sunday, a couple lost an estimated P3.85 million worth of jewelry and cash amounting to P15,000.

Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, chief of Cadiz City Police Station, said on Monday they are eyeing an “inside job” after they saw latent fingerprints of two unidentified persons in the room of Samuel Co and his wife Priscilla.

Co is a former mayor of Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur.

Desear said they have identified two persons of interest.

The police chief said the couple went out early to take photos, and when they returned to their room around 7 a.m., their valuables were already missing.

The robbers entered through the window of the comfort room and carted away a pair of diamond earrings worth P900,000; diamond bracelet worth P1.5 million; a diamond bangle worth P200,000; a pair of white and green diamond earrings, bracelet, and a necklace amounting to P500,000; a pair of hoop earrings worth P50,000; a Rolex wristwatch worth P500,000; a diamond and gold chain worth P50,000; a diamond ring worth P100,000; and a set of pearl earrings worth P50,000.

The robbers also took the couple’s cash amounting to P15,000.
