537 IDPs receive permanent shelters

NATIONAL Housing Authority (NHA) District Manager Al-Khwarizmi Indanan and Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has turned over 537 housing units worth P167.8 million to internally displaced persons (IDPs) during the 21-day September 2013 siege.

Indanan said the newly-completed houses were properly inspected and have passed the standards of the local housing office and the NHA.

Indanan also assured that the permanent shelters they have built for the IDPs are of good quality.

The houses were built through the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction, which is the blueprint of the government for the rehabilitation of the siege affected areas.

The 537 permanent shelters were constructed at the Vale Vista Subdivision, Phase 1, in the village of Kasangyangan.

The Phase 1 covers a total of 828 units. The 291 units were completed and turned over to the beneficiaries in December last year. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
