7 ‘members’ of Salisi gang in custody

SIX suspected members of a “salisi” gang from Manila were caught in the northern town of Consolacion, Cebu last Monday afternoon.

However, one gang member identified as Mark Anthony Rosales, 30, was able to escape, said PO1 Socrates Borinaga.

Rosales was allegedly carrying the bag containing P350,000.

Detained at the police station are Sheena Delos Santos, 40, the alleged gang leader; Joyce Bautista, 28; Emiliano Villariaz Jr., 58; Michael John Fuentes, 21; Joveth Alfonzo, 32, and Michael Salquero, 27. They are from Tondo, Manila.

Before their arrest around 4 p.m., businessman Pablito Ceballos reported to the police station that seven people carted away his store’s proceeds.

Ceballos and his wife remembered the license plate of the suspects’ getaway vehicle.

A team led by Consolacion Police Chief William Homoc searched for the vehicle until they found it traveling at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.

Charges

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspects.

Two .45 pistols, three magazines, bullets, several small sachets of suspected shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspects.

Borinaga said they also recovered a bag, jewelry, cellphones, and identification cards.

Investigation showed that the group struck six times in the town, using the same modus: they enter an establishment, blend in, distract their victims and then strike.

Borinaga said the suspects will be charged with theft, illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia before the prosecutor’s office.
