754 candidate soldiers undergo 16-week training

A TOTAL of 754 candidate soldiers are undergoing training at the Army’s 1st Infantry Division Training School at Kuta Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Those who are undergoing training belong to the Candidate Soldier Course Classes 506, 507, 518, 519 and 520-2017.

The training started on Monday and will last for a period of 16 weeks.

Lieutenant Colonel Marces Gayat, acting commandant of the Army’s 1st Division Training School, presented the candidate soldiers to Brigadier General Roseller Murillo, commander of the 1st Infantry Division, at the start of the training.

Murillo said he hopes that all of the 754-strong candidate soldiers will be able to finish their training courses.

“The objective of this training is for you to have the strength and discipline befitting a soldier, and transform you into fighters that can defend the country,” Murillo told the candidate soldiers.

He reminded them that “everything they do is for God, the Filipino people, and our country.” (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
