76 firecrackers vendors secure permit

A TOTAL of 76 firecracker vendors in Bacolod City secured special permits to display their products at the firecrackers zone behind the Pope John Paul II Tower at the Reclamation Area.

Executive assistant Ernie Pineda, head of market coordinating and monitoring task force, said Wednesday these vendors paid P1,500 in business tax.

“Before they can display their products, they should wait first the approval from the Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas),” he said.

Pineda noted that most of the vendors have already constructed their stalls at the firecrackers zone in the Reclamation Area.

On Tuesday, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted a seminar and inspected the stalls of the vendors.

Pineda said the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and BFP will conduct another inspection of the stalls next week to ensure that these comply with fire safety measures.

He said vendors selling outside the identified firecrackers zone will be penalized, and their products will be confiscated.

“The monitoring team along with the BFP and BCPO will be deployed to various areas to confiscate illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics,” he added.
