799 vials turned over by tanods 'not Nubain'

THE 799 vials turned over by barangay tanods to police on Sunday turned out to be negative of illegal drug substances.

The vials, initially believed to be containing Nubain, were tested at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory. They were abandoned Sunday by an unidentified man to the barangay tanods of Kamagayan, Cebu City.

The police found out though, after the test Monday, that the package, containing 70 boxes, is Ranitidine, a medication for ulcer and hyperacidity.

The vials will be turned over to the PNP hospital after it was not claimed in the Parian Police Station, said station chief Senior Inspector Dexter Basirgo. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
