Abra, Kalinga cops score anew against loose firearms

AUTHORITIES scored another victory against loose firearms and ammunitions following the arrest of four individuals in Abra and Kalinga.

In a synchronized implementation of search warrant issued by Judge Raphiel Alzate of RTC Branch 1 in Bangued and Branch 58 in Bucay, Abra, two suspects were successively arrested.

Police arrested 60–year-old Stevan Barcena Jr., widower, and a businessman in his farm at Sitio Barbarit, Barangay Tagodtod, Lagangilang in the morning of November 17 by joint operatives of Lagangilang police and Abra Provincial Maneuver Force Company (PMFC).

Barcena's arrest led to the confiscation of a Colt cal. 45 with serial no. 345670, with magazine loaded with three bullets and one black magazine with five bullets for the same caliber.

Avelino Bañez Cabico, 35, and a farmer was also arrested in Brgy. San Ramon West, Manabo, Abra by combined personnel of Manabo Municipal police and 1st Coy Regional Mobile Force Battalion-15 (RMFB15) which led to the confiscation of one Taurus cal. 9MM pistol bearing serial number B58139 and an magazine loaded with 13 bullets.

In Kalinga, the "Oplan Bakal Sita" of Bulanao police sub-station led to the arrest of 29–year–old Jeffrey Daligdig Tayawa, 29, and a resident of Purok Datu, Bulanao Norte, Tabuk City in the night of November 18.

Prior to his arrest, Tayawa together with his companions were having a drinking session when authorities started to conduct "Oplan Bakal Sita" inside a sari-sari store.

The suspect tried to leave but was stopped resulting to the confiscation of one caliber .45 Armscor pistol with serial number 769960, and two stainless magazine loaded with five ammunitions.

The confiscation from his possession was done after he failed to present pertinent documents to possess same firearm.

Meanwhile , the number seven top most wanted person in Tinoc, Ifugaowas also collared by police.

Thirty three year old Lito Calingayan Abance who was charged for violation of RA10591 otherwise known as the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act," was arrested in the November 20 at Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Abance has a recommended bail of P170,000 issued by Judge Romeo Habbiling, RTC Branch 14 of Lagawe, Ifugao.
