Agora has new police head

THE arrest of a policeman in an anti-illegal drug operation in Cagayan de Oro City apparently had resulted to the relief of his superior from his post in Agora police station.

Chief Inspector Allan Curato has been ordered relieved as the station commander of Police Station 3 (PS3) in Agora, effective April 11. He was replaced by Senior Inspector Dennis Quindara.

Curato was made to report to the City Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (CPHAU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) while waiting for his new assignment.

Quindara, on the other hand, came from the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) in Camp Alagar.

City police director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon said it is the responsibility of the station chief to monitor the activities of his men.

Police Officer 2 (PO2) Buenaventura Reyes Jr., a member of the Mobile Police Unit (MPU) of PS3, was arrested along with other two civilian drug suspects, early this month.

Aganon said station commanders should be sensitive with the behaviors of their personnel.

"May directive tayo sa mga station commanders to check their men. Although di niya (Curato) kasalanan yun pero kailangan huwag mag-relax at higpitan pa ang monitoring kung anong ginagawa ng mga police natin (We have a directive for our station commanders to check their men. Although its not his (Curato) fault but he needs to strictly monitor the activities of his personnel),"Aganon said.

"Ok naman performance niya wala naman problema kailangan lang natin bagong ideas kaya natin siya pinalitan. Matagal na rin naman siya paikot-ikot ng stations sa Cocpo I think it’s about time na subukan natin yung iba (His performance is Ok but we need new ideas and I think we need to try new commanders),"he added.

Personnel of PS3 on Thursday, April 12, underwent a surprise drug test.

Aganon explained that non-performing station commanders may expect to be relieved and reassigned depending on the results of the evaluation.

The Cocpo's new chief stressed that station commanders who do not effect change and showed development in their leadership will be replaced.

"If ever wala tayong makitang progress sa assignments nila bibigyan natin sila ng bagong position at maglalagay tayo ng bago na makakapag-deliver pa ng maganda," Aganon said.

"Tinitingnan din kasi natin ang performance ng mga previous assignments nila," he added.
