THE Agora Police Station (PS3) has been hailed as the Most Child-Friendly Police Station in the city again this year, its third in as many years, during the Gabi ng Parangal on Wednesday night, November 29, at the Ayala Centrio Mall.

The Agora police won P100,000 for making their police station policy-related and compliant with child laws and for having personnel training and manning and possesses child appropriate services. The station was also cited for its monitoring, evaluation and research, and information and advocacy on child and community engagement.

Lumbia Police Station (PS8) came in second and bagged the cash prize worth P70,000, followed by Cogon Police Station (PS2) which garnered a P50,000 cash prize.

Meanwhile, the city government also recognized the 10 most child-friendly barangays in the city, with barangay Kauswagan topping the list, receiving P150,000 followed by barangay Lumbia with P100,000, and Barangay Gusa with P75,000.

Also recognized as friendly barangays are Nazareth, Camaman-an, Carmen, Tablon, Patag, Lapasan, Canitoan, and Agusan, while barangay Bugo qualified as hall-of-famer for the said award.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno lauded the efforts of each barangay and police station in making the community a safer place for all the children.

"The city's performance depends on the performance of its barangays. So, the important thing now is to focus on our objectives, and the vision that define our course and our strategy. As we celebrate the victory of our barangays and our city, we also realize that more needs to be done," Moreno said in his speech last Thursday.

"It's important that the successes that we have achieved will be pursued to keep the momentum so that the city, through the barangays, will develop the culture of excellence, the culture of success, making sure that doing well becomes a habit, doing well becomes an expectation," Moreno said.
