Aguirre: Sebastian not yet qualified under WPP

ALTHOUGH top Bilibid inmate Jaybee Sebastian was given immunity in relation to his testimonies before the House hearing on drug proliferation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) remains undecided in placing him under its Witness Protection Program (WPP).

According to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, Sebastian did not disclose everything he knows in the affidavit that he will present before the House Committee on Justice.

"I believe that there are so many things more... If he can convince the DOJ then we might consider putting him under WPP. Pero today, sa paningin namin, kulang pa po," Aguirre said.

The committee chaired by Congressman Reynaldo Umali has granted Sebastian's request for immunity. According to Umali, his 12-page affidavit is materiel to the investigation.

Individuals who will testify in the fourth round of the House hearing on drug proliferation in the state penitentiary that were granted immunity include inmates Peter Co and Vicente Sya and former Bureau of Corrections OIC Rafael Ragos. (Sunnex)
