Aguirre to seek Interpol help to nab Lascañas

JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to coordinate with the International Police (Interpol) in locating alleged Davao Death Squad leader (DDS) and retired police officer Arturo Lascañas.

Lascañas, subject of the arrest order issued by a Davao court last June 5, is facing cases of frustrated murder and murder for his alleged attempts to kill Jun Pala in 2002 and in 2003.

He flew to Singapore on April 8 fearing that the government would pin him down by filing trumped up charges against him after he had linked President Rodrigo Duterte to the DDS.

In a Senate inquiry on March 6, Lascañas recanted his statements clearing Duterte in his alleged involvement in the vigilante group and said that the then Davao mayor had paid assailants to kill criminals and his critics in Davao.

One of which is Pala.

Lascañas said Duterte gave the DDS P1 million as reward money for trying to kill Pala. (SunStar Philippines)
