AIKO Melendez admitted that she had a misunderstanding with her son, Andrei, because of her boyfriend, Persian businessman Shahin Alimirzapour.
On Tuesday's guest appearance in morning program "Magandang Buhay," the actress said that Andrei, her son with ex-husband Jomari Yllana, ignored her for more than a week.
She felt that it was due to her announcement on Instagram about her new relationship with Alimirzapour.
"Nagtampo siya sa akin. Lately lang ito, ito yung parang major na tampo niya sa akin kasi normally, 'pag mayroon kaming hindi pinagkakasunduan, mga three days. Ito, inabot kami ng one week and three days. Hindi niya ako kinakausap, tapos cold treatment," she said.
Melendez thought that because she was very open about Alimirzapour to her children, they would immediately understand the situation.
She said Andrei needed time to adjust.
"Ang pagkakamali ko lang talaga kasi, naamin ko in Instagram bago ko pa nasabi sa kanya. So, pagkakamali ko naman talaga iyon. Hindi ko bina-bypass yung mga anak ko sa pagkakataon na iyon. Pero kasi ang pagkakaintindi ko at that time na alam nilang nagde-date ako at masaya ako, automatic na iyon. Hindi pala. Kailangan pala formality din, dapat ipaalam ko sa kanila."
The actress said that they were able to discuss it and she explained to Andrei the situation.
She added that until now, she's trying to make it up to Andrei over this misunderstanding.
"I told him, 'Son, let's talk. I'm really sorry for what I have done. I’m going to make it up to you.' And I am. Until now, I'm making it up to him by being very honest every detail sa kanya ngayon."
Melendez said she's also slowly trying to introduce the former to Alimirzapour.
"I don't want to force naman Andre and I don't want to force Shahin. Parang I want Shahin to exert that effort to Andre. So he is naman, slowly."
Aside from Andrei, Melendez also has a daughter named Marthena with ex-husband Martin Jickain. (Sunnex)
