AirAsia inaugurates new routes from Davao City

PHILIPPINES AirAsia inaugurated its new routes from Davao on April 22, 2017, providing better domestic connectivity to Dabawenyos.

Starting last April 22, Philippines AirAsia will be operating twice daily flights between Davao and Cebu; daily flights between Davao and Boracay (Caticlan); thrice weekly flights between Davao and Palawan; and four times weekly flights between Davao and Clark.

"I am very happy and excited because AirAsia is opening Davao to the rest of the country which is what we need," said Gene Rose Tecson, Davao City Tourism Office head, at the sidelines of the inaugural event of the new routes at Francisco Bangoy International Airport.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in a message delivered by Councilor April Marie Dayap, said the opening of the routes also affirms that Davao City is indeed one of the prime business and tourism destinations in the country.

"From highlands to islands, AirAsia is officially welcoming summer with new and increased connectivity from Davao and Cebu to Boracay and Palawan and to the northern part of the Philippines via Clark Airport in Pampanga," said Captain Gomer Monreal, Philippines AirAsia Director of Flight Operations, in a statement.

Monreal added that additional planes are on the way as the airline expand and grow operations in Visayas and Mindanao.

"There is so much growth potential here for business and tourism with AirAsia's seamless connection now available for domestic travels and very soon for international expansion," he said.

In line with the launching of the new routes, AirAsia is offering promo fares from as low as P788, all-in. It is available at www.airasia.com for booking starting on April 22 to April 30 and valid for travel between September 5, 2017 to February 8, 2018.

Meanwhile, Tecson said they seek to also further market Davao City as a top tourist destination in the Philippines through the launching of these flights.

"Part of our plans that Mayor Sara directed is we market Davao to the whole country becuase the local market is our market. We have to show everybody what makes life here in Davao," she said.
