CLARK FREEPORT --- The Philippines AirAsia is launching its daily Clark-Caticlan flights on to serve passengers and tourists going to the world-famous Boracay Island.
Jenny Bugarin-Tan, head of the airline’s communication department, said a send-off ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on December 15 at the departure area of Clark airport.
Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) Acting President and Chief Executive Officer Alex Cauguiran, Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Dexter Comendador are expected to lead the event, according to Tan.
In March this year, AirAsia marked its return to Clark airport after launching its flights to Kalibo, Aklan which also a gateway to Boracay.
AirAsia launched commercial flights from Clark in 2012 before transferring its hub to Metro Manila following a strategic partnership with a local carrier in 2013.
The airline also launched its flight from Clark to Davao, Palawan, and Cebu.
Comendador said AirAsia established its base operations and launched commercial flights in Clark in 2012 with only two aircraft.
“Now we have a fleet of 14 jets and we are aiming to expand and grow operations here in the next five years,” Comendador said.
