THE difference between a family and friendship is that with the latter, we don’t have the chances to choose but with the former, we can choose. Hence, this also means that we can also choose to end a friendship. It may be incredibly hurting, especially old friends whom we have shared so many memories of pain, joy, and love - undeniably a great loss. But sometimes, we need to decide to unfriend someone for us to preserve our character.
When do we choose to terminate old friends?
Compulsive Liar. This is a friend that gives you unreliable stories every day. They keep you updated with fake news and they are not ashamed when they are caught. They also give so many excuses for their unjustifiable acts. They are full of justifications and has the capacity to think of reasons in just a second. They appear to be true when they speak, and their thoughts are like well-planned and not an automatic impulse. You will be his or her long time victim causing you to have confusing and incorrect perspectives on life!
Controlling Attitude. This is a friend that gets much gratification from manipulating you. It is someone that will disrespect your decision and will decide for your won happiness. He or she foresee your future, they will assuredly tell you what better is for you – they can even say they know what you are thinking when it is the real opposite of what are your insights. The worst problem is they will insist to say they know what’s appropriate for you and they will forever devalue your insights. You will be living a passenger and your old friend as the driver of your life forever.
Back Stabber. This is a friend who destroys you discreetly. It adds debris to your credibility and dreams. His or her unhealthy tongue will create negative energy for you – it will highlight your weaknesses. Be careful of this because they act like the most protective and caring friend when in truth they are vampires that will bite you sucking your fresh blood until your death.
Sure Player. This is a friend who makes sure there is an exchange to what they can give. They will provide you all your needs from emotional support and the most with the finances. They will not stop from lending you help, they are always the first to be around during your disasters but they will make sure you are going to return all of the help by not saying no to all of their requests. They will have to make sure that they get even from you to the last centavo they have shared. The saddest thing is that they have the complete list of all your debts and they will make sure there are witnesses.
I believe these are just a few reasons that a friend can unfriend someone. Friends like everyone would say should stay through thick and thin. Yes, I agree – but if you have friends who are just staying for the expected benefits then I guess friendship should not last.
Ahh… I must say this … “I know everyone is going to hurt us, but I have to find the ones worth suffering for”.
