Andanar warns erring PNA editors: I will send you to Jolo

AT LEAST two editors of the state-owned Philippine News Agency (PNA) were given the dressing down by Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Sec. Martin Andanar for the errors on their website.

In a press conference in Baguio City, Andanar said he issued show cause orders to the two editors.

“If they will not give an adequate justification to avoid disciplinary action, then I will send them to Basilan or Jolo,” he said.

Andanar said he strived hard to make the government news website popular and audience-friendly.

“I kept a positive attitude to revive these,” he said. “Matapos nito dumating ang kapalpakan ng PNA,” he added.

Andanar said one editor uploaded a commentary of Xinhua and passed it off as their own.

“Maiintindihan ko na sana because of the information exchange with many international news wire agencies like Xinhua,” he said.

“And then last night, another editor made that mistake with Dole the corporation and not the department. Akala siguro ng gunggong na editor na Dole ito na korporasyon,” he added, referring to the Dole Philippines logo that was used as visual support for a Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) article.
