Architects group president to strengthen professional programs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Angeles City Chapter president Andy Gulapa on Sunday, May 7, vowed to support fellow architects to earn points under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program as required by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for the renewal of licences.

According to PRC, the CPD as mandatory requirement in the renewal of professional license under Section 10 of R.A. 10912 shall be implemented after the effectivity of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) which will be in March 2017. Gulapa said that their group will help in ensuring that the best possible CPD programs are implemented for their members.

Gulapa said that the CPD or the Continuing Professional Development program for all Registered and Licensed professionals through Resolution No. 2016-990 series of 2016 will be fully implemented this March 2017 according to the latest announcement from PRC.

"This is a way for processionals like us to gain more skills, knowledge and competencies expected of the country's professionals," Gulapa said adding that this is also a response "to the standards in the national, regional and international labor markets" given the envisioned ASEAN economic community. Gulapa added that it is essential to gain CPD points in this age were highly competitive professionals aspire for more knowledge and skills.

Furthermore, PRC emphasized that all professionals must comply because it is a mandatory requirement in the renewal of professional license under Section 10 of R.A. 10912, otherwise known as the CPD Law of 2016. CPD Programs are defined under Republic Act (R.A.) 10912, "An act mandating and strengthening the continuing professional development program for all regulated professions."

Gulapa said that they are also looking at promoting better camaraderie and communication among the different members of the UAP in Angeles City particularly among older and younger architects. He added that the growth and success of a group depends greatly on the active participation and support of its members and officers. Gulapa added that their group will also be hosting programs that will promote the welfare of members as well as programs for local communities.
