AREA 2 (Manapla, Cadiz City and Sagay City-Macasa) and Area 10- Association of Negros Occidental Private Schools and School Administrators Inc. (Anopssai) simultaneously open their athletic competitions today, Nov. 15 in Sagay City and Murcia town, respectively.
Hundreds of athletes, coaches, chaperons, and trainers are expected to converge for Macasa meet opening rites at the Sagay National High School while contingents from Anopssai-member schools will gather at the Murcia municipal gym.
The Area 2 event is scheduled to run until November 18 while the Anopssai meet will be until Friday.
Sixteen events will be contested, including baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, football, sepak takraw, softball and volleyball; and individual sports – athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sports, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo.
These Department of Education-sanctioned competitions will be the province’s qualifying process of selecting athletes to represent Negros Occidental in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Meet and compete against provinces of Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras. (HGD)
