Armored van crashes into Catmon shore

AN ARMORED van of a security agency crashed into the shore past 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, off Sitio Tinibgan in Barangay Catmondaan, Catmon, Cebu, after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle was driven by Christian Ancero, 21. His two escorts were identified as Angelito Duhaylungsod, 21, and Dante Palma, 43.

Police Officer 1 Arvie Aresco, who was part of the team who responded to the incident, said Palma suffered a dislocated right knee and a cut in the left leg.

Ancero and Duhaylungsod did not suffer injuries.

Investigation showed the van was on the northbound lane, traveling about 80 kilometers per hour.

Ancero tried to overtake a tricycle when they were near a blind curve in Tinibgan and encroached the opposite lane.

When Ancero noticed that his vehicle was about to collide with a wing van, he swerved back to his lane and applied a full brake.

Aresco said Ancero failed to control the vehicle, which skidded off the national highway and turned turtle as it crashed into the shore. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
