Arts Awake: Indigenous textiles walk the Manila Fashion Festival runway

BARONG Tagalog, abel weaves and other indigenous inspired creations from the first ever NCCA Ready-To-Wear National Design Competition are to walk along with contemporary fashion creations of renowned Filipino designers with the Manila Fashion Festival NOW happening on October 18 to 21 and 27.

Winning designs of AJ Bernabe, Jinggay Serag, Daryl Maat, Evangeline Rosales Badulis, and Rosalie Norico–Mendiola and of the NCCA RTW Design Competition will be featured in the Manila Fashion Festival catwalk aong with creations by renowned Filipino designers Rhett Eala, JC Buendia and more.

NCCA’s participation in the Manila Fashion Festival promotes the mainstreaming of indigenous designs and the use of indigenous textiles in the contemporary fashion scene as part of its greater mandate to promote the arts and culture of the country.
